Sea Safety Training
World class sea safety training is available to military and commercial customers throughout the world, via our partnering agreement with the Royal Navy.
Basic Sea Safety 5 day course
This course, which is delivered at HMS Excellent in Portsmouth, provides Maritime & Coastguard Agency accredited sea safety training for personnel working in the commercial shipping industry. The training, which meets the requirements of STCW95, blends class-room learning with realistic practical exercises using the Royal Navy’s specialist on-site facilities, including their world class fire-fighting facility. Intermediate Sea Safety 5 day course
This five day course is normally attended by naval personnel as a refresher course following an earlier Basic Sea Safety Course and or prior to a seagoing appointment. The course consists of: fire fighting organisation, systems and equipment (one day), practical fire fighting (two days) sea survival theory and practical drills (one day) followed by Damage Control organisation and drills (½ day) and practical damage repair (½ day). Maritime & Coastguard Agency certificates will be issued for the ‘Personal Survival Techniques’ and ‘Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting’ elements.
Personal Survival Techniques 1 day course
This one day course equips trainees with both basic and intermediate level skills for Personal Survival at sea. It includes both theory and practical drills (wet and dry) and covers the use of survival equipment in use in Royal Navy and Royal Fleet Auxiliary vessels. Accredited to STCW95 standards, this course forms part of the standard Royal Navy Basic and Intermediate Sea Safety Courses.
