VT Flagship manages an integrated IS strategy for the Royal Navy across ten geographically dispersed locations, which enables our customer to benefit from shared resources, knowledge transfer, uniformity, improved reliability and reduced costs.

Our IS team recently delivered a major project for the Royal Navy when ‘Windows 2003/XP’ was rolled out across all the naval training locations. This ‘thin client’ solution provides system emulation to each Users’ desktop, rather than using locally held software. Now we administer the system centrally, delivering higher availability of services and quicker resolution of technical problems.

Through the provision and support of circa 3,000 work stations, associated equipment and networks, end-user training has been simplified. VT Flagship has delivered improved equipment reliability, thereby reducing service costs and improving efficiency. By using this approach a significant reduction in consumables expenditure has also been realised.

The introduction of the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL), which forms the basis of the BS 15000 standard, has helped us to standardise IS roles and procedures across all the sites improving the way the service is managed and delivered. In this way, further efficiencies and economies of scale will be delivered.
