Prime Contracting

VT Flagship's Prime Contracting model uses an integrated procurement strategy for delivering capital works and estate services projects.

As a Prime Contractor, we assume overall single-point responsibility for the managment and delivery of the project. In this role we co-ordinate and integrate the activities of a pre-approved supply chain. This enables us to meet the delivery specification effieciently, economically, innovatively and on time.

Key Benefits

Our experience, gained from working in a Prime Contracting environment with our supply chain, allows us to typically start work on site at least three months earlier than using the traditional approach. This reduces pre-construction costs and provides a vehicle for early resolution of design issues between the client and all other stakeholders.

We like to involve the main contractor early in the design process which means we can drive further time and cost savings from the construction phase. We would expect to achieve:

• At least three months reduction in the overall programme from commencement of scheme design to handover. 
• Savings in time and resource by not having to run a tender and selection process, professional fees and costs.
• Greater certainty associated with budgets Vs outturn costs.
• Reduced risk of disputes due to collaborative approach with Supply Chain.
• Open Book approach to Final Account agreement, completed in a timely manner.
