Our History

VT Flagship is a wholly-owned Babcock International Group PLC company.

VT Flagship was formed in 1996 when a groundbreaking partnering agreement was signed with the Ministry of Defence to deliver support services to reduce expenditure and generate income for the Royal Navy. At that time the company was called Flagship Training Ltd and was a 50:50 joint venture between VT Group (which was acquired by Babcock in July 2010) and BAE Systems.

Initially, the aim of the agreement was to market the Royal Navy’s training and deliver value for money support services. Since then, the scope of the partnering agreement has been significantly extended to encompass the provision of a full range of support services.

Our relationship with the Royal Navy evolved further when we signed a Prime Contracting agreement in 2002 to deliver construction services. VT Flagship’s Construction and Technical Services team quickly established a reputation for delivering high profile, complex construction and refurbishment projects on time and to budget.

In July 2008 VT Group acquired the remaining half of Flagship Training Ltd and renamed the company VT Flagship.

Today, VT Flagship has evolved into a total training solutions provider. Our capabilities have broadened to include training technology solutions, training support services, facilities management and construction services that are delivered to a broad range of customers all over the world.

At the same time, our 1,500 employees continue to work alongside the Royal Navy and the MoD as ‘one team’ to ensure mutual success; a success that we have echoed in our associations with over 400 customers since VT Flagship started in 1996.

We continue to maintain the Royal Navy’s reputation for training excellence by extending this ethos through our relationships with other maritime, military and commercial customers.
